Your speed is fairly irrelevant to the Pet, even before they were dismissed on mounting they were able to keep up with even a Hunter on an Epic land mount equipped with the best mounted speed increasing items.
What the Talent does is allow your Pet to close with your targets quicker, and move from target to target faster. It is handy in PvP and good for impatient people in PvE.-Hunter Pet information links:

TKA Somethingyour pet just runs at 130 speed instead of 100, at all times it is running.
